A LOCSS partner installs a gauge in one of Bangladesh’s seasonal lakes, called a haor.

Back in November, we reported that LOCSS team member Faisal Hossain was working to expand the LOCSS program to Bangladesh.  We are pleased to report that our partners at the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) have installed gauges in three seasonal lakes in Bangladesh, called haors.  On May 17, we received the first height measurement for one of these lakes, Korchar Haor in northeast Bangladesh. This was the first measurement we have received for a lake from outside of the United States!

We are currently working to integrate the data from Bangladesh into our website.  In the meantime, you can view the locations of these lakes and lake height measurements on a webpage that has been set up by BWDB.
